![]() ![]() I've tried (in the X5M at least) to out perform its native launch control using torque braking but in a mode where launch control won't engage. I've launched the RS7 just a few times now and it behaves *exactly* the same as the X5M including holding the revs during the shift from 1st to 2nd. I can neither prove or refute that but my observation was that the surge of power when it landed in 2nd provided a better overall launch than riding 1st to the limit which always resulted in rough/slow shifts ultimately losing forward momentum.ģ. In chats with fellow car enthusiasts, I speculated that perhaps it's by design since the torque/HP curve may well yield equal or more power in the mid-range in 2nd than when approaching the rev-limiter in 1st. With or without the tune when using launch control, the X5M would short-shift from 1st to 2nd but would maintain engine revs during that shift. ![]() the last M-car (well, sort of an M car) I had was an X5M with a Burger JB4 tune on it making slightly over 800 crank HP. it short-shifted almost every time :-/ In perfect conditions, however, it would ride 1st to the red line and then shift as expected and so onĢ. the DCT in my M5s and M6s did exactly as folks are saying in that it short-shifted only when it lost traction. Interesting discussion here are my observations having just this week switched from BMW to Audi:ġ. ![]()
